Mission

To put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Programs

4 programs

Health and wellness - these programs improve the health and wellness of the community by encouraging and enabling adults and youth to live healthier lives through a combination of physical activity, nutrition, spiritual and emotional support, fun, fellowship and friendship. Health and wellness programs focus on healthy spirit, mind and body. In addition to utilizing ymca resources, these programs also utilize collaborations with local health care providers to address issues such as diabetes, obesity and providing exercise opportunities for folks with special needs. In light of the rising obesity rates in this country, our ymca participates in the activate america initiative and engages in a variety of events and community activities designed to help the "at risk population" develop habits and relationships that lead to more active, healthy lifestyles.

Expenses: $932K

Sports - ymca's sports, education, and recreation program area aims to enhance the lives of children and adults through sports-related physical activities and recreational opportunities that promote healthy spirit, mind, and body. Programs include basketball, flag football, floor hockey, indoor and outdoor soccer, t-ball, softball, baseball, volleyball, martial arts, swimming, gymnastics, handball, racquetball, and ultimate frisbee. Youth sport programs and leagues are offered to boys and girls 3 to 18 years of age. All programs promote the ymca's seven pillars of everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, family involvement, sport for all and sport for fun. These pillars translate into and promote character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. These programs also enhance the additional assets of wellness, equality, constructive use of time, sense of purpose, and self-esteem. Adult sports programs and leagues programs are open to individuals 18 years of age and over. These programs are vital to the accomplishment of our mission and goals. Ymca adult sports promote lifelong activity that develops physical skills and improved health and wellness as well as enhancing self-respect, self-confidence, and reducing stress. Skill development programs are offered to develop skills in designated activities. These programs are vital to the accomplishment of our mission and goals as they help the ymca promote improved self-esteem by learning and practicing skills related to the activity. These programs also impact participants through improved health and wellness as well as enhancing self-respect, self-confidence, and abilities in working both individually and as part of a group/team.

Expenses: $526K

Aquatics - provides a safe and friendly environment where individuals from infants to seniors discover the healthful benefits of learning to swim and regular exercise in the water. Aquatics programs build confidence, teach safety skills, enhance stroke techniques, increase fitness levels and endurance as well as provide fun recreation. Children learn in a safe, well supervised environment. Family involvement is emphasized and our family swim program gives adults and children shared time in the pool to appreciate one another and promote intergenerational relationships.

Expenses: $343K

Community collaboration - the ymca participates in numerous collaborative efforts to ensure that we are pursuing accomplishment of our mission through community outreach. Collaborative efforts enable individuals from many parts of the community the opportunity to participate in ymca programs that will enhance their daily living. Some examples of these programs are: providing memberships to physically challenged individuals, providing a recreational outlet for group homes, providing fellowship and recreational opportunities for individuals in substance abuse rehab, providing recreational opportunities for school kids, community service, leadership and team building.
