Code savvy experience: in 2024, our experience programs continued to expand access to computer science education across the state. We expanded the byte-sized challenge, introducing the program to educators at four new schools while continuing to support past participants. To enhance accessibility, we launched the curriculum in somali and hmong, ensuring students from these communities could engage with the material in their native languages. Educators in need received micro:bits, and we introduced a competition component, allowing students to submit projects for a chance to win prizes - further enhancing engagement and excitement around the challenge. The technovation girls mn program saw incredible participation, with 37 teams comprising 105 girls mentored by 52 industry professionals. Notably, 72% of participants were new to the program. Fifteen teams earned state- level recognition, receiving code savvy-branded stanley mugs - a favorite among participants. One team achieved regional recognition for developing an app to support seniors in nursing homes and their families.
Code savvy explore: our code explorers program introduced a series of hackathons at new locations, engaging students in ai engineering design while building their skills in programming languages, coding platforms, and ux design. Through these initiatives, code savvy continued to inspire and equip students with critical stem skills, fostering innovation and inclusivity in technology.
