Crisis Intervention Services

Hunger relief - sierra community house feeds families and individuals by providing weekly food distribution throughout north lake tahoe-truckee. We provide food bags comprised of essential food groups including fresh seasonal vegetables, fruit, whole grains, dairy, and meat. They also offer the opportunity to connect community members to additional resources. Sierra community house helps reduce food waste by re-distributing rescued food back into the community. Through partnerships with local grocery stores, seasonal gardens & growers, and food banks, sierra community house is helping to get food into the hands and mouths of our community.

Family support & community engagement - sierra community house provides culturally proficient peer education, advocacy, resources and support services to help individuals and families connect and thrive. We help improve the well-being of community members through safety net services and by providing resources and education around physical and mental health, parenting, child development, government benefits, financial coaching, healthcare navigation, and housing assistance. The promotoras serve as liaisons between community members, health professionals, and social service organizations. Promotoras are advocates, educators, mentors, community health outreach workers, and role models.

Mediation & legal assistance our legal advocates and volunteer attorneys provide legal services to resolve civil legal issues. Through education, support, and conflict resolution, we consult and guide community members in matters related to landlord-tenant law, employment law, immigration law, family law, civil law, small claims, restraining orders, and more. Sierra community house believes in equitable access to information, resources, and representation. We uplift our community by empowering individuals to take practical steps that address and resolve legal issues and prevent future problems
