Public policy & advocacy: ncld fights to improve outcomes for people with learning disabilities by actively shaping local and national policy to reduce barriers and ensure unrestricted access and unlimited opportunity for all. Despite being as capable as their peers, students with learning disabilities often struggle in school and in the workplace because they are not provided the accommodation they need to thrive.more than 90 percent are not proficient on national assessments in reading and math. Students with learning disabilities drop out of high school at nearly three times the rate of others and are twice as likely to be jobless when they become adults. Ncld works every day to promote evidence based policy that will improve these outcomes and ensure that individuals with learning disabilities have the supports, protections, and opportunities they are legally entitled to succeed.policy & advocacy focus areas:- equitable funding- college access- student's rights and safety- reading, literacy, and mathematics- strong educator workforce- emerging workforce- early identification and intervention

Leadership: ncld provides k12, post-secondary, and workforce development programming for our constituents. The leadership reflects critical transitions that take place for students and stakeholders: being identified with a learning disability, persisting through high school and considering post-secondary options, and entering the workforce.
