Mission

The oklahoma humane society exists to enrich the communities it serves by promoting the well-being of animals.

Programs

4 programs

Intake program: the intake program is responsible for processing the initial intake of all dogs and cats entering the adoption and relocation programs. This includes medical and behavioral evaluation and any required medical processes such as vaccination, heartworm testing, flea / tick treatment and microchipping. The foster program provides a temporary home for our intake animals until theyre ready for adoption. These pets come in all shapes and sizes! Some may be awaiting spay or neuter surgery, need additional vaccines or medical treatment, or may be ready for adoption and simply need a home to take them to and from the adoption center. On average, ok humane has over 3,000 animals in our foster program each year.

Expenses: $457K

Adoption: to save animals at risk of euthanasia, oklahoma humane society transfers them into its adoption and relocation programs.

Expenses: $442K

Statewide / outreach: ok humane societys statewide initiative began in 2019, with the goal of changing the landscape of animal welfare around the state. Using a multi-dimensional approach, we collaborate with animal shelters and rescue groups, bringing resources to underserved communities across oklahoma. Each year this program provides services to over 4,000 animals across our state.

Expenses: $371K

Animal advocacy program: the oklahoma humane society collaborates with palomar to provide an animal advocate at the palomar facility to take immediate care of the animals while the host agencies take care of the families. Care will include vaccinations, spay / neuter, temporary kenneling, and a foster home until the family can be reunited with their pet(s). This model is unique and will be presented as a best practice to surrounding states.
